FINDING THE DEFAULT

The world around us is filled with defaults. A Whopper before you request cheese, BBQ sauce, & bacon. A plain bagel can be considered a default until you add your favorite flavored creamed cheese. Even your computer’s desktop background is set to a default until you add that picture from last summer’s vacation. The default is the basic preset before said object is further customized to the individual’s capability, comfortability, or creativity. 

 

Defaults in fashion are no different. Now there are many different fashion houses, labels, brands and such which offer the freedom and versatility to mix and match to create the ultimate look. In many cases a person may have many different favorite brands that look and fit their personal style. H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, Prada. The Italian fashion house commissioned art and design company Mert and Marcus Paris to create nothing short of "Timeless" in my opinion

The collection consist of 26 reinterpreted alphabetical initials of which the letters P-R-A-D-A and M were used to design a series of 5 T-shirts. Each shirt is decorated with a letter on the front and the Prada-M logo on the back. Hmmmm, maybe I’ll get three shirts with the letters F-L-Y!!!

A Taste-Setter is the marriage of one who is both a Tastemaker and a Trendsetter. Lets examine both to get a better understanding of this perfect union.

A Tastemaker is defined by Dictionary.com as one that determines or strongly influences current trends or styles, as in fashion or the arts. His influence shapes the way you button your shirt, lace your sneakers, and roll up your trousers leg.

He is a true renaissance man who by only wearing Capri Orange by Acqua Di Parma has everyone woman running to the store trying to buy it for their man. The perfect example of a fashion tastemaker is Meryl Streep's character Miranda Priestly in the movie "The Devil Wears Prada" (Thats All).
